"MICHEAL STOCKER AND HIS DESCENDANTS" by Charles L. Stocker and
Jennie Stewart: " Andrew Stocker, third child and second son of the
family of Andreas and Julianna, was born May 25, 1778, as determined
by the inscription on his tombstone. His birthplace was Northampton
County Pa, in what is now the Boro of Stockertown in Forks Twp. Here he
lived until he was about 37 years of age, when he sold his farm and
with wife and 3 or 4 children joined his four brothers and sister who
were seeking a new home in the Ohio country. Moving by team and wagon
over the Pa. mountains and across the Ohio, they continued to the
valley of the Huskingum, later called the Tuscarawas. Here they
settled within a few miles of each other, Andrew on a fine farm on the
bank of the river about two miles west of Gnadenhutten...and here
Andrew lived out his life." "Public records show that he carried
with credit his part as a citizen of a pioneer community...His space
in the old Moravian Cemetery at Gnadenhutten is near the graves of his
brothers Adam and Christian, and is marked by a simple marble slab set
upright, with the inscription stating that he died Dec. 6, 1852, aged
    74 years, 6 months and 12 days."

"STRIEBY Genealogy and History 1726-1967" by Byard B. Strieby, B.
Beatrice Strieby, and Irene M. Strieby (MacDonald Letter Services County,
Des Moines, Iowa, 1967) John Strieby--"An improved county road,
which leads from the little village of Bolivar, OH, in Lawrence Twp.,
Tuscarawas County, to the slightly larger village of Strasburg, in the
neighboring twp. of Franklin, takes one over the beautiful hill
country near Stark County line. Crossing this road, about a mile south of
Bolivar, is the "Old Strasburg Rd.", a winding gravel trail thru
scenic territory, forking to the NW. On the left hand side of the
road, about a mile from the junction is an abandoned cemetary almost
hidden from view. It is here that the compiler found the graves of
John Strieby and wife in a plot with corner posts, indicating it was
once enclosed by an iron chain fence. The large tombstones had been
laid flush with the ground rather than in upright position and were
scarcely visible thru the overgrowth of myrtle...This cemetery is
probably located near the old home of John and his wife in Lawrence
Twp." "John Strieby also owned land in Salem Tract farther south in
Tuscarawas County Several deeds in County records give evidence of his
various transactions as also on his estate administration documents
and Chancery records." "That the family clung to its German
background is evidence by books in that language listed in the sale of
property (Probate Bk. 4:396ff) as well as their membership in the
Reformed Church. About 1835, Conrad Zutavern and wife, Anna Maria,
together with John Strieby and wife Anna Maria, sighed a deed for
parts of Lots 16 and 17, Sec.2, Twp. 10, for a "German Presbyterian
and Lutheran Church to be known as Paul's Chruch" (Deed Bk. 10:212).
John was trustee of this church said to be torn down about 1925.
According to Beer' p. 573, Strieby, Fernsells, and others were members
of a Lutheran Society formed in 1822.
"HISTORY OF KOSCIUSKO COUNTY" "William (brother of Margaret
Strieby/Stocker) was born in PA March 23, 1811, a son of John and
Maria (Richel) Strieby, also natives of Pa. In the same year that
William was born his parents moves to Tuscarawas County OH...."

  1. 8.  Andreas Stocker was born in 1746 in Whitesuntide (son of Michael Stocker\Stucker and Anna Margaret); died before 4 Sep 1823 in Stockertown, Northampton County, PA; was buried in Old Forks Cem., Stockertown, Northampton County, PA.

    Notes:

The following information is found in "MICHAEL STOCKER AND THEIR
DESCENDANTS" by Charles L. Stocker and Jennie Stewart: "Andreas
Stocker, probably the fifth son of Michael, the Swiss imigrant of
1731, and Margaret, his wife, was "born in Perk Gaunty" according to
the inscription on the stone in the old Forks Cemetery, often called
the Stocker Burying Ground, at Stockertown, in Northampton County, Pa.
It is likely that this was in Upper Milford Twp., Bucks County, now in
southwesterly corner of Lehigh County, where on Sep. 11, 1738 Michael
Stocker received a patent for 150 acres of territorial land under the
seal of Thomas Penn." "The tombstone says Andreas died in the
eightieth year of his age which would fix his birth in 1743-1744, but
an entry in his old family Bible reads: "I, Andreas Stocker, was born
on Ascension day in the year 1746." "About 1770-71 Andreas and his
brothers Adam and Henry moved northeasterly into the present
Northampton County, where the records show that Andreas and Adam acquired
in common a tract of 345 acres of land in Bethleham Twp. This Andreas
soon thereafter quit-claimed to Adam. Thereafter he acquired a number
of parcels in Forks Twp. and became one of the largest land holders in
the region." "He was enterprising and constructive in the new
community. Tradition has it that before the establishment of a
church, services were held in Andreas' barn. He donated a location
for the Forks church and cemetery site. I think it almost certain
that the old stone mill powered by the waters of Bushkill Creek, whick
is still operating to this day, was one of his contributions to his
time." "Andreas and his four living brothers were enrolled as
soldiers of the Revolution. Andreas' service record as a private in
Capt. Jacob Buss' County of the 1st County in the 2nd Battilion of
Northampton County, according to the Class roll dated May 22, 1781,
appears in Pennsylvania Archives, 5th Series, Vol. 8, p.143; also as
of roll made up in the fall of 1782, on p. 201 of Vol. 8, same
    Series."

Andreas married Julianna Maria Watnert\Watuert. Julianna was born in 1751 in PA; died in 1823 in Stockertown, Northampton County, PA; was buried in Forks Cem., Stockertown, Northampton County, PA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Quotation found in "MICHAEL STOCKER AND HIS DESCENDANTS", by Charles
    L. Stocker and Jennie Stewart is as follows: "...I discovered
Andreas' old German Bible with entry: "I was united in holy matrimony
with Julia Anna a born nee Watuerteen (Wats worth)." from which we may
conclud that her name was probably Watterson, or perhaps Wadsworth"

"STREVEY FAMILY HISTORY" by Maxine Strevey Scott, p. 5 and 6
"Young Michael (he followed the German custom of using his middle

acres and 132 perches of land near Easton, Pa. from Jacob Fisher.
This plot, known as STRIEBYTOWN, had been surveyed and warranted to
Conrad Yost on May 9, 1751. Mr. Yost had sold his land to Jacob Fisher
on Sep. 10, 1753." "STRIEBYTOWN was a portion of the Penn's Manor
Fremor patented to Michael Strieby by John Penn, Lt. Gov. of the
province...Michael's patent cost 8 pounds thrirteen shillings, and was
recorded on Apr. 15, 1767." "According to dept. of internal affairs of
the commonwealth of Pa., Patent book, Vol. AA 8, p. 259. Striebytown
was situated partly in Lowmill Twp. and partly in Whitehall Twp. From
Oct. 22, 1753 until Feb. 9 1787 it remained in the possession of
Michael Strieby when he and his wife sold it to Jacob Bare for 225
pounds in specie (Northampton County Pa. File Book, File y, Book D-9, p.

containing 172 acres and located aside or on the west side of the
Jordon Lutheran Church in South Whitehall Twp., according to a map by
Isaac Chapman." "From there Michael and his wife move to Lynn Twp.,
