"HISTORY OF KOSCIUSKO County" article on John Dorsey, p. 390 "John
Dorsey was born in Wabash County In Aug. 7, 1842. His parents, Boaz and
Emeline Dorsey, reside near Oswego, and both are nearly eighty years
old. His father is a native of Maryland, and came to Wabash County in
1840, remaining there a few years, when, owing to the unhealthfulness
of the climate, he returned to Ohio. After several years he again
came to Indiana, settling in Kosciusko County, on section 13, Plain Twp.
A short time since he removed to Oswego, his present abode. Seven
children were born to these parents, five of whom survive--William,
Owen, Henry, John and Mary."

Pletcher the 1860 census in Olive Twp.,
Elkhart County IN. She is 68 years old, says she was born in PA. This
would figure her birth around 1792. It is assumed that her husband
has probably died before this time. Pension record for Jacob
Pletcher has Catharine Doremire as a witness testifying that Cyrene is
the wife of Jacob Pletcher, signed with her mark 12th Dec. 1863.
Another document for Jacob Pletcher's pension states that Cyrene was
assisted with the birth of Lydia and Martha by her mother Catherine
Dormeyer who is now deceased. (dated 15th of Oct 1866)

Obituary Notice Wakarusa Tribune Feb 14, 1968 " Mrs. Pauline Groves,
78, 111 S. Washington St. Wakarusa, died of complications Friday, Feb.
9, at her home. She had been ill about a year. Mrs. Groves was born
in St. Joseph County on Mar. 15 1890. She was married to Frank Groves in
1905. He preceded her in death in 1959. Survivors are three sons,
Homer Groves, Elm Road, Bremen; Donald, North Liberty; and Howard of
Wakarusa Route 1. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Bollman of South Bend.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Lienhart Funeral Home at 2
p.m. with Dr. Ben Strohbehn of the First Christian Church, where she
was a member, officiating. Burial was in the Bremen Cemetery."

The marriage of Miss Isabel Bolen and Clarence H. Stevens which was solemnized Thursday, Nov.6, has been announced. Miss Bolen and Mr. Stevens procured a marriage licence at Independence, Ky., and were married at Visalia, Ky., at 10:30am by R ev. Peter Walker, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church South at that place. They were unattended.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Laura Stayer, 220 Oakland Square, and has been employedat the Kroger store on west Columbus Ave. Mr. and Mrs. Stevens will make their home in Bellefontaine, where the former holds a managerial position i n the same Kroger grocery store, where the bride was employed.

Saturday, February 7, 1920

Two deaths occurred in the county within the past 24 hours from the influenza, when Mrs. David MOORE, 34, who lived three miles south of Athens, passed away Friday evening and Mrs. Ernest ZARTMAN, 25, who resided three miles west of Rocheedcumbed Saturday morning.

Friday evening Miss Isabelle CARLTON, county nurse, received a call to come to the Moore home and bring a nurse with her if she could possibly get one, as the whole family was down. She secured Mrs. Dal BLACK. Before they arrived Mrs. [Eied. The rest of the family are still bedfast but none in a serious condition.
Mrs. Moore, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David SHRIVER, was born Oct. 5, 1885. Her maiden name was Ada Elizabeth SHRIVER. She leaves besides her husband three children, Ruth Isabelle [MOORE], Mary Bernice [MOORE] and Henry [MOORE] and tw,ER] of Kokomo, and Charles [SHRIVER] of Akron, and two sister, Mrs. Roy RHODES and Miss Esta SHRIVER, both of Akron. No funeral arrangements as yet.
