    According to Suzanne Dodge, two deeds, both dated October 31, 1850 and recorded January 11, 1851, for one dollar:

    "To Catherine Smith, wife of David Smith and Cordelia Rassleya, wife of Richard R. Rassleya, 58 acres situated in Muskingum County, being a part of the first quarter of the second township and seventh range of United States Military Land". "T o Thomas Ring, 106 acres also in Muskingum County, first quarter of the second township and seventh range of United States Military Land".

    According to Suzanne Dodge: James A. Harmison to William Reed for $300,00, April 7, 1846, for three acres.

    Marriage record book of Muskingum, Ohio, James' marriage record is listed under Harrison. Record can be found under wife, Sophia Wills.

    James married Sophia Ann Will on 18 Mar 1841 in Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio. Sophia was born on 20 Jan 1818 in Licking County, Ohio; died in 1901 in Great Bend, Barton, KS. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  1. 8.  Thomas Harmison, Sr. was born about 1725 in Probably Virginia; died after 13 Jan 1790 in Sleepy Creek, Frederick County, Virginia.

    Notes:

    In Frederick County Land Grants, Book 2, Thomas Lord Fairfax, Baron of Cameron, to Thomas Harmison of Frederick County, Virginia, on October 10, 1766, 247 acre tract of land on the headspring of Ambrose's Run below Sleepy Creek near Potomac Rive r (in present Morgan County, WVA).

    Rent rolls for Berkeley County, Virginia, 1774-1781 show Thomas Harmison with 247 acres (From Reconstructed Census, Berkeley County, Va. 1774-1810 by Grove).

    In Berkeley County Unrecorded Deeds, Book 1, page 411, deed dated November 22, 1790, Thomas Harmison, farmer, of Berkeley County, to his children: William Harmison, to receive all lands and possessions except 30 pounds; Nancy Randels, to receiv e 5 pounds; Jean Weathers, to receive 5 pounds; and Martha Harmison to receive 20 pounds. Proved October 15, 1793.

    Tax list for Berkeley County in 1787 lists white males over 21 years; James Harmison, Thomas Harmison, Adam Harmison (Thomas was charged the tax for Adam), Mathew Harmison (who also had one male 16-21 years in his household).

    1792, name disappeared from tax record but he was found 1794 on receipt from William, deed record 1794.
