    ALVORD'S HISTORY OF NOBLE County IN., P. 207 article on William
    Knepper: "William Knepper...was born Aug 18, 1851, in Sparta Twp.,
    Noble County IN, and is the son of Anthony and Catherine (Sullenberger)
    Knepper, both natives of Franklin County PA. This worthy couple were
    united in marriage in their native state, came to Washington twp.,
    Noble County IN in 1848, and soon afterward moved onto the farm in Sparta
    twp., where Anthony Knepper passes away July 22, 1899, while she had
    passed away about six years previously. To the union of this worthy
    couple were born five children: Phares, deceased; Sarah C., who became
    the wife of William Stocker; Susan; Margaret, married to Charles M.
    Prentiss; and William, subject of this sketch."
    Obituary Notice of Sarah Catherine (Knepper) Stocker states that the
    family moved from PA to Indiana when she was two years of age--born
    Jan 29, 1847.

  1. 8.  Abraham Knepper was born on 10 Mar 1734 in Cumberland, Franklin County, Antrim Twp., PA (son of Wilhelmus Knepper and Veronica -Bloom Bloem); died on 8 Dec 1823 in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Washington Twp., PA; was buried in Mt. Zion Cem., Franklin County, PA.

    Notes:

    In 1762 Abraham, brother Peter, and brother-in-law John Horn were members of the Brethren Church at Big Conewago, York Co., PA. He bought 100 acres in Cumberland Co. in 1765 with his parents. He preached in Westmoreland Co. in 1770. He served in the Revolution against his beliefs under Captain Samuel Rogers, 8th Battalion, Cumberland Militia in 1779 and 1780. In 1782 he was taxed for 400 acres. His will was dated 21 May 1811.

    Abraham built a two story home which is still standing today. It is along the road between Mont Alto and Quincy and is known as Knepper's Station. His will was written 21 May 1811 and was put on record 1 Mar 1824 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He left all his property to Catherine. Upon her death the home was to go to Samuel who was to pay shares to the remaining children. The home remained in the Knepper family for many generations.

    Abraham married Maria Catherine WERTZ "Catherine" in 1758 in Franklin Co., Pennsylvania. Catherine was born on 26 Aug 1738 in Coventry, Chester Co., Pennsylvania. She was buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Quincy Twp., Franklin Co., Pennsylvania.

    She is the daughter of Hans Jacob & Anna Barbara (Huff) Wertz.
