    • NO MARRIAGE VERIFICATION HAS BEEN FOUND FOR THOMAS GILBERT AND
      THURZA (THURSEY, TIRZA, TERESA, ETC.) GERARD. A MARRIAGE COULD
      HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN IROQUOIS County,ILLINOIS. RECORDS FOR THE
      PURPORTED TIME OF MARRIAGE ARE LOST.

      THURZA "PROBABLY" IS THE DAUGHTER OF MILTON GERARD AND PERNIAH
      BLAIR. SHE IS THE SISTER OF EDWARD MITCHELL GERARD ,WHO MARRIED
      MARTHA GILBERT--DAUGHTER OF THOMAS--, AND EMILY GERARD, WHO
      MARRIED HERMAN RHODES GILBERT.

      THE GILBERT/GERARD "CONNECTION" SEEMINGLY TOOK PLACE IN
      INDIANA--CARROLL, WHITE,TIPPECANOE COUNTIES. BENTON AND NEWTON
      COUNTIES SAW MARRIAGES TAKING PLACE AMONG THE TWO FAMILIES.

      THE FAMILIES LIVED IN IROQUOIS County,ILLINOIS, FOR APPROXIMATELY EIGHT
      YEARS.

      CONTACT BETWEEN THE FAMILIES COULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE EARLIER IN
      OHIO--I.E. FRANKLIN County, OHIO--BUT EVIDENCE HAS YET TO SURFACE TO
      SUBSTANTIATE THIS.

      THURZA (TURSA) BONE (GILBERT--NEE GERARD) WAS 73 YEARS, 9
      MONTHS, 20 UPON HER DEATH IN CROFTON, NEBRASKA. SHE LEFT A
      HUSBAND , JAMES BONE, THREE CHILDREN , TEN GRAND CHILDREN, AND SIX
      GREAT GRAND CHILDREN. THE CHILDREN ARE ONE SON AND TWO
      DAUGHTERS; THESE , ACCORDING TO THEIR AGES, ARE MRS. C.M. HENRY OF
      WAUSA, MRS. C.M. HIGHSMITH, OF OMAHA AND SEVERE GILBERT OF
      CROFTON.

      THE REMAINS WERE SENT TO OMAHA ON THE NOON TRAIN ACCOMPANIED BY
      THE HUSBAND, MRS. HILGHSMITH, SEVERE GILBERT ,AND TWO GRANDSONS,
      FRANK CORRIGAN AND B.M. BEAN.

      DEC. 12TH, 1912--THOSE WHO AATTENDED THE FUNERAL OF MRS. JAMES
      BONE AT OMAHA LAST WEDNESDAY WERE JAMES BONE, MRS. C.M.
      HIGHSMITH OF OMAHA; SEVERE GILBERT OF CROFTON; FRANK CORRIGAN OF
      CROFTON; BUFORD BEAN, WAUSA, JOHN WILSON, OMAHA; ADA WILSON,
      OMAHA; MRS. HARLEY CATON, OMAHA AND FRED WILSON OF PORTLAND,
      OREGON.

      MRS. CHAS. HIGHSMITH OF OMAHA, WHO HAS BEEN IN CROFTON A FEW DAYS
      ON ACCOUNT OF THE SERIOUS ILLNESS OF HER MOTHER, MRS. "BOWMAN",
      RETURNED HOME SATURDAY. HER BROTHER HERE ALSO, HE RETURNING
      FRIDAY.

      WHAT IS THE POSSIBILITY OF RUNNING SOME OF THE MATERIAL
      CONCERNING THE DEATH OF MRS. JAMES BONE WHO DIED IN CROFTON IN
      1912? THE MOST IMPORTANT DATA WOULD INVOLVE THE DATES AND
      NAMES. I'M HOPING TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH A RELATIVE OF THIS
      LINE WHO MIGHT STILL LIVE IN THIS AREA, OR AT LEAST DEVELOP
      CONTACT WITH SOMEBODY WHO MIGHT KNOW OF THE PEOPLE MENTIONED IN
      THE NEWSPAPER ACCOUNT RUN IN 1912 IN THE CROFTON JOURNAL.

      PLEASE ADVISE OF THE POSSIBILITY AND THE COSTS INVOLVED. IF IT IS
      NOT POSSIBLE, CAN YOU SUGGEST ANY ALTERNATIVES SO THAT I MIGHT
      DEVELOP CONTACT WITH DESCENDENTS?
