• Notes

  On April 21, 1908, Helen and her brother and sister were taken by their mother to the Lasker Home for children in Galveston, Texas. Their mother told them to get into Frank's little farm wagon and she walked them to the orphanage. Helen remembered the 1900 storm that hit Galveston Texas. They lived in the Hindley building on the second floor. She recalled the sound of wooden crates knocking on the ceiling of the first floor below them.
