"... the name appears as Richel. It may have been Richel, Reichell,
Raechel, Rickel, or more likely Rishel since families of this name
were living inNorthampton County, the county where John's father died in
1790. Rishels were also numerous in York County, Pa. wher is is possible
that John Strieby spent some time before joining Peter Himes on the
trek westward."

According to the "Strieby Book" Heinrich Ulrich Rishel, native of
Germany, came to America in 1753, settling in Bucks County, Pa.
