 | This painting entitled "Weedon's Run" by Pamela Patrick White & Bryant White. It portrays the the 2nd Virginia Regiment at Battle of Brandywine. A detachment of the 2nd Virginia Regiment fought as part of Maxwell's Light Corps, a provisional formation made up of drafts of 100 men from each brigade, under Lt. Colonel Richard Parker at the battle of Cooch's Bridge on September 3, 1777. Greene's Division of Virginians had held off the British advance at the closing of the Battle of Brandywine, allowing the rest of the army to withdraw in good order. William Rhodes fought with the men of the regiment, from 1775, till 1783 when regiment was disbanded. |
