    "HISTORY OF KOSCIUSKO County" article on John Dorsey, p. 390 "John
    Dorsey was born in Wabash County In Aug. 7, 1842. His parents, Boaz and
    Emeline Dorsey, reside near Oswego, and both are nearly eighty years
    old. His father is a native of Maryland, and came to Wabash County in
    1840, remaining there a few years, when, owing to the unhealthfulness
    of the climate, he returned to Ohio. After several years he again
    came to Indiana, settling in Kosciusko County, on section 13, Plain Twp.
    A short time since he removed to Oswego, his present abode. Seven
    children were born to these parents, five of whom survive--William,
    Owen, Henry, John and Mary."

    William Dorsey, son of Elisha and Mary (Slade) Dorsey, was born in
    Baltimore County An undocumented source stated that his wife was Margaret
    Tracy, another stated her Christian name was Elizabeth. The inventory
    of his personal estate was filed at court in Baltimore Co. on Dec. 29,
    1847, with Enoch Dorsey as the executor. His will had been written on
    Apr. 19, 1842, and admitted for probation on Dec. 18, 1847. (Balt. County
    Inventories, Liber 59, folio 50; Wills Liber 22, folio 128) Wills
    states: To son Booze Dorsey $5.00, he already having received his
    share. To grandson William Dorsey of Booze, $10.00"

    "Elisha Dorsey, son and heir of Benjamin and Sophia Dorsey, was born
    in Anne Arundel County, but spent the greater part of his life in
    Baltimore County..At a meeting of freeholders...who met at the courthouse
    at the advent of the Revolution to select committees for the purpose
    of carrying into effect the non-intercourse resolutions of the
    Continental Congress, Elisha Dorsey was elected to represent North
    Hundred of Baltimore County(Scharf's Hist. of Balto., p. 70)." "In 1779
    Elisha Dorsey was listed as a non-juror, having refused or neglected
    to subscribe to the Oath of Allegiance to State of MD. (Minutes of
    Court, 1772-81, folio 310, Hall of Records). In 1783 he was a taxable
    in North Hundred of Baltimore County In 1790 he was the head of a family
    with 3 males over 16, including self, one male under 16, three females
    and two slaves. Letters of administration were issued to his son,
    William, on Sep. 15, 1802...inventory of personalty was filed Oct. 15,
    1802, showing appraisement of $928.00 and two mulatto slaves. (Balt.

    "Elisha Dorsey born c. 1743, m. Mary Slade Dec. 15, 1768 (St. Jn. and
    St. Geo.)d. 1782. In 1772 Elisha Dorsey of Baltimore County bought from
    Thomas Marshall, 123 acres called Climna Lina. He also owned land
    called Dorsey's Plains. On Jan 21, 1771, Elisha Dorsey, son and heir
    of Benjamin Dorsey of Anne Arundel County, deceased, and Sophia Talbot,
    his mother...sold Talbott's Last Shift..." "Elisha Dorsey was
    appointed first Lieutenant of Capt. Christopher Owing's Company in
    Soldier's Delight Battalion, Baltimore County, on Sep. 11, 1777. (Arch.
    of MD, XVI, p. 369)" "Elisha Dorsey died in 1801/2 intestate. His
    estate was appraised on Oct. 16, 1802. His son William served as
    administrator."

    "Benjamin Dorsey, son of Nicholas and Frances (Hughes) Dorsey, was
    born in All Hallow's Parish, and baptised at the parish church on Sep.
    17, 1717. On Feb. 3, 1741/2, Benjamin Dorsey, then of Anne Arundel
    County, sold 100 acre portion of 'Major's Choice' on Elk Ridge, which had
    been granted to Edward Dorsey. On Aug. 24, 1741, he purchased for L
    223, a portion of 'Talbot's Last Shift' on the main falls of the
    Patapsco in Anne Arundel" Benjamin Dorsey died intestate. Letters
    of adm. were granted to his widow, Sophia Dorsey, on Jul. 27,
    1749....the appraisement of the personal estate was made on Sep. 15,
    1749...value of L 248.17.6 (Inventories, Liber42, folio 34)
