  1. 1.  Joseph R. Rhodes was born on 15 May 1844 in Thorntown, Boone County, IN; died on 15 Apr 1906 in Tippecanoe, Marshall County, IN; was buried on 17 Apr 1906 in Jacoby Cemetary, Center Twp., Marshall County, IN.

    Notes:

    Served in the Civil War. Joseph R. Rhodes served in County C, 48th
    Indiana, the same company that his brother George was in. According
    to his dicharge he enlisted Jan. 15, 1862 in Marshall County IN, at the
    age of 19 yrs. Also he was 5' 7 1/2" tall, had dark eyes, light hair
    and complexion, and stated he was born in Boone County IN (information
    from the Indiana State Archives). According to his obit. in the
    Bourbon Advance (Bourbon, Marshall County, IN) Apr. 18, 1906, Joseph R.
    Rhodes was apparently murdered.

    Joseph married Margaret A. Cox on 27 Apr 1869 in Marshall County, IN. Margaret (daughter of William Cox and Margaret Fox) was born on 20 Jul 1852; died on 4 Jun 1925 in Tippecanoe, Marshall County, IN. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
